Mr. Sun has an experienced civil practice with an emphasis on litigation and arbitration in the areas of investment and financing, bankruptcy, finance, corporate and real estate. He specializes in scrutinizing legal issues from different perspectives and solving practical problems for clients through innovative legal strategies or ideas. He has been described as “who has a precise grasp of cases’ key legal issues”(The Legal 500 2024).

In the litigation sphere, Mr. Sun currently serves as a member of the Civil and Commercial Litigation Professional Committee of the Shanghai Bar Association. As counsel, he has acted in various complicated cases in the field of commercial in the Supreme People’s Court and several High People’s Courts, and he has won advantages for his clients. He has also reversed unfavourable judgments for clients through the second trial and retrial procedures on many occasions. The factoring contract dispute case, represented by Mr. Sun, is the first financial and commercial dispute adjudicated by Shanghai courts, marking the inaugural judicial precedent of a local factoring company suing a core leading enterprise in the supply chain. The case is ultimately selected into the Supreme People’s Court’s Annual Outstanding Cases.

In the arbitration sphere, Mr. Sun is a member of both the SHAC list of Arbitrators and the DGAC list of Arbitrators. As counsel, he has acted in a number of domestic and cross-border commercial arbitration disputes.

Prior to Mr. Sun joining AnJie Broad Law Firm, he had practised with two leading law firms, King & Wood Mallesons and Grandall.


Representative Cases

Dispute Resolution for Banking and Finance

  • Represented a trust company in a series of disputes involving criminal-civil crossover financial contracts, with the amount in dispute exceeding RMB 12 billion
  • Represented a central state-owned enterprise in a series of disputes involving criminal-civil crossover financial contracts and notes, with the amount in dispute being approximately RMB 1 billion
  • Represented a commercial group in a series of disputes involving criminal-civil crossover factoring contracts and achieved a comprehensive victory, with the amount in dispute being approximately several hundred million RMB
  • Represented a bank in its tort dispute retrial proceedings before the Supreme People’s Court and successfully obtained the support of the Supreme People’s Court and ruled on retrial and arraignment
  • Represented a real estate enterprise in a dispute over its financial loan contract and achieving a successful outcome, with the amount in dispute being approximately RMB 1 billion
  • Represented a state-owned enterprise in its appeal case of a series of disputes over financial leasing contracts and successfully obtained the support of the Supreme People’s Court and ruled to remand for retrial, with the amount in dispute exceeding RMB 1 billion

Dispute Resolution for Corporate, Investment and Financing

  • Represented a company in the retrial proceedings of a dispute over an equity transfer contract and successfully overturned the original adverse judgment, with the disputed matter involving hundreds of millions of RMB of land using rights
  • Represented a company in a dispute over creditor’s right of revocation in retrial proceedings and successfully overturned the original adverse judgment, with the amount in dispute being approximately tens of millions of RMB
  • Represented an education company in a dispute over its equity transfer contract and successfully exonerated the client from all liability for the guarantee, with the client only bearing a very small portion of the liability, with the amount in dispute being approximately tens of millions of RMB
  • Represented a real estate group in a series of disputes over its employee shareholding platform 

Dispute Resolution for Real Estate and Construction

  • Represented a state-owned enterprise in disputes over housing sales and purchase contracts, construction contracts and guarantee contracts and won the cases, with a total disputed amount of over RMB 1 billion
  • Represented a foreign-funded company in a dispute over the right to use construction land and won the case, with the amount in dispute being approximately RMB 200 million
  • Represented an education group in an arbitration case of land use right substitution
  • Represented a number of real estate enterprises in a number of disputes over the sale and purchase of houses, lease contracts and separate ownership of buildings
