Tracey TANG has an extensive and diverse background in the legal field, beginning her career in 2004. Initially, she offered general corporate, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and dispute resolution advice to multinational companies. In 2012, she shifted her focus towards the technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) and digital entertainment sectors. Since then, she has honed her expertise in providing specialized legal advice to both international and domestic clients within these industries.

Representative Cases

  • Representing Blizzard Entertainment and NetEase to protect the copyright of Overwatch game with the result that all claims being fully supported by the court. The lawsuit is widely regarded as a landmark case of cracking down on "skin-changer" games;
  • Representing many top international and domestic game companies, such as Supercell, Playrix, Rovio, Riot, Bilbili, and Yoozoo, to prepare and negotiate game software development, licensing and distribution agreements and provide regulatory compliance advice relating to their game publishing/operation business;
  • Advising a couple of international companies in game or other restrictive businesses on the market entry options, including VIE structure and other alternative solutions;
  • Assisting a US-headquartered SaaS company to launch its could services in China and prepare relevant legal documents;
  • Assisting a Germany-based company to launch its digitalized coffee machines together with the cloud services in China and localize the legal documents;
  • Representing Rovio in various IP enforcement activities, including civil lawsuits and raids, to protect "Angry Birds" IP;
  • Advising an international sports association on various market entry and regulatory issues for launching video streaming business in China;
  • Assisting a France-headquartered company which operates various online bridge games to form a strategic cooperation with a China-based online chess and card game company to launch the client's bridge game in China;
  • Representing a France-headquartered chemical company to protect its trade secrets in China, including both civil and criminal procedures; and
  • Providing legal advice to a PE fund on its target company's acquisition of software source code, relevant assets and businesses from a US company.
