Mr. Sun Xiuwu has been involved in intellectual property related fields since 2001. He obtained the qualification of patent attorney in 2002 and was one of the first batch of patent litigation representatives recognized by the Supreme People's Court of P.R.C. He has worked as a patent attorney for China Patent Agent (H.K.) LTD. for more than 14 years. He has accumulated extensive practical experience in patent mining, patent portfolio planning, patent drafting and agent, patent invalidation and administrative litigation, sorting and protection of technical secrets, FTO and due diligence of intellectual property, as well as patent and technical secret infringement investigation and litigation.

Mr. Sun, with his profound background in science and technology, is not only proficient in Chinese patent-related laws and examination practices, but also understands the patent-related laws and examination practices of major countries and regions in the world. Patent Agent and Patent Portfolio Planning

He has been responsible for more than 2,500 Chinese and foreign patent application cases in a wide range of technology fields including chemistry, chemicals, materials, materials, medical devices, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, machinery and equipment, and new energy technologies etc.
He has authored and filed hundreds of Chinese and foreign patent applications for major domestic and foreign industrial enterprises on their core technologies, including Sinopec, Jiangsu Zhongneng Polysilicon Technology Development Co., Ltd., L'OREAL, Honeywell and others.
He has conducted patent mining and patent portfolio planning for more than a dozen well-known domestic and foreign companies on their core industrial technologies.

Patent Invalidation and Administrative Litigation

He represented Saint-Gobain, an internationally renowned glass manufacturer, to invalidate a patent against Fuyao Glass Industry Group Co., Ltd. The case was selected by the Patent Re-examination Board of China National Intellectual Property Administration as one of the top ten patent re-examination invalidation cases of the year in the first selection event in 2010.
He represented Lenzing Group of Austria，an internationally renowned cellulose fiber manufacturer in two rounds of patent invalidation and administrative litigation against the Austrian First Engineering Company for four of its Chinese patents.
He represented Sumitomo Pharma Co., Ltd. in filing the patent invalidation against an anonymous competitor for a Chinese patent.
He represented Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc. of Japan in filing the patent invalidation and administrative litigation against Amyris Biotechnology Company of Japan for one of its Chinese patents.
Represented Toshiba Corporation in filing the patent invalidation and administrative litigation against Santoku Corporation in Japan for one of its Chinese patents.
He represented Nihon Superior Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of lead solder, in two rounds of invalidation and administrative litigation against an anonymous competitor for one of its Chinese patents.
He represented Sinopec Research Institute of Petroleum Processing Co., Ltd. in filing the patent invalidation against a company in China for its two core Chinese patents (one of the Chinese patents has won the China Patent Award of Excellence).

IP FTO and Due Diligence

He has provided IP FTO services for dozens of core technologies or core products for many large or super-large chemical companies at home and abroad, the scope covers China, the United States, France, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and others.
He has provided IP FTO services for a number of domestic medical device companies in China for many core products, covering both China and the United States.
He has provided intellectual property due diligence and legal risk analysis services for many well-known chemical companies in China in respect of foreign technology introduction, technology cooperation, company acquisition, foreign licensing and other projects, the scope covers China, Italy, Russia, etc.

He provided legal/technical support for a patent infringement litigation filed by a foreign fiber manufacturer against a foreign company.
He provided legal/technical support for a patent infringement litigation filed by a domestic battery diaphragm manufacturer against a foreign company and was responsible for evidence preservation, technical appraisal, sample testing and other work.
He provided legal/technical support for a trade secret infringement litigation filed by a foreign chemical company against a company in China.
He provided legal/technical support for a trade secret infringement litigation filed by a chemical company in China against a company/an individual and was responsible for infringement investigation, evidence combing, secret point determination，secret point appraisal and other work.
