Ms. SHI currently sits on the Shanghai office EXCO of Anjie Law Firm. She has close to 25 years of experience working on cross-border transactions including general corporate and commercial law matters, global corporate tax planning and compliance, the establishment and maintenance of investment funds and the structuring of complex M&A, JV, private equity, mining and capital markets transactions. Ms. SHI also has strong practical experience in assisting ultra-high net worth clients with structuring their wealth offshore including the establishment of various types of offshore trusts.
Prior to joining AnJie Law Firm, Ms. SHI worked on many high profile cross-border M&A and capital markets transactions at two leading international US law firms, Weil Gotshal & Manges and Sidley Austin. She also held the position of Managing Partner, Shanghai at a leading international offshore law firm prior to AnJie Law Firm. Before that she also held a senior in-house position in the Asia Pacific as Legal Director - Asia Pacific at Rio Tinto working in its Melbourne and Shanghai Offices.
In Australia, Ms. SHI has also worked as an adviser at the Australian Government Treasury on FTA negotiations with ASEAN countries including China and competition law policies and reforms. Ms. SHI also assisted in drafting and advising the Australian Treasury (the Australian Federal department that administers Commonwealth taxation legislation) on federal tax law reforms and implementing regulations. In 2008-2009, Ms. SHI served on the Board of the Australia China Business Council, Victoria Division.
Ms. Shi previously practiced in the tax practice area of Freehills Australia, where she dealt with complex tax structuring, tax compliance, tax audits, as well as communication and negotiation with the tax authorities for corporations.
Ms SHI co-founded a general counsel association for multi-national companies working in the PRC. In 2012, she also co-founded a senior women’s network, allowing female leaders to interact with each other in a social forum to share ideas and interests.
