The Public Competition Review (13th Edition)

Recently, Law Business Research, a British legal publisher, released the 13th edition (2021 version) of The Public Competition Enforcement Review. This book brings together the rich experience of preeminent lawyers and experts specializing in antitrust/competition law in 20 main jurisdictions. It elaborates on the legal systems, judicial enforcements, typical cases, as well as future trends in the field of antitrust/competition law.

 

Michael Gu, a partner of AnJie Law Firm, has been invited as the exclusive author for the China chapter, i.e. the annual review of 2020 China Antitrust Enforcement. It is the twelfth year that Mr. Gu has served as the exclusive author for the China chapter of The Public Competition Enforcement Review. 

 

The China chapter contains a comprehensive discussion of the 2020 China antitrust practice as well as updated issues in the field of antitrust. By analyzing recent regulations and typical cases, this chapter focuses on 2020 Chinese antitrust legal system and enforcement dynamics. At the same time, it prospects the future development of 2021 antitrust legislation and enforcement.

 

Mr. Gu is experienced in competition law, M&A, compliance and government regulation. Mr. Gu has been recognized as a leading lawyer by major international legal ranking institutions including Chambers, Who's Who Legal, The Legal 500, AsiaLaw and Global Competition Review in recent years. 

 

As a competition law pioneer in China, Mr Gu has secured merger clearance from the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC (MOFCOM) and State Administration for Market Regulation for more than 80 merger transactions. Particularly in 2008, Mr Gu successfully submitted the first merger filing under the Anti-Monopoly Law, which also received the first approval from the Anti-Monopoly Bureau of the MOFCOM. Mr Gu has also represented clients in high-profile antitrust investigation proceedings, antitrust civil litigations and leniency programmes.

This book is co-edited by Dr. Arthur Dong at AnJie Law Firm, Mr. Peter Yuen and Mr. Damien Macdonald. These three co-editors also contributed to several chapters of the book. Other authors are also experts in the arbitration field, including famous lawyers and scholars. This book covers a wide range of heated-discussed topics in Chinese commercial arbitration.
